Exchange Bag

I found this in the Happy Hooker book....and I couldnt resist. I would never use it myself as I am a BIG bag person and this one is only about 8 1/2 inches across, but I thought I could find someone to give it to. As you can see, its a WIP, but its coming along. I am thinking of putting a pocket inside for a cell phone. I'll take another pic when its completed.

Challenge #2

Here is my second completed challenge (a summer piece made of yarn). Its a tea cozy for my Sun Tea jar. Keeps the contents cooler, makes it easier to hold onto and soaks up the condensation. Made of worsted weight cotton, I made it up as I went along. I'll go back later and write down the instructions and post them.

I Accepted the Challenge...

....and here is the result. CFL is having a Crochet Challenge and I took up the gauntlet, so to speak. I did a thread project (which must hold something). I have been wanting to make a soap cover for my bathroom so this was the perfect opportunity. The pattern called for Luster Sheen but I only had a skein of green, which wouldnt go in my bathroom, so I used 2 strands of lavender, #10 crochet cotton held together and it worked just fine. I plan to make a couple more to give to friends as gifts....they arent hard to make at all. Find the pattern HERE.

Didja Ever Have To....

I have been working on squares for an online friend who is making a comfortghan for her b/f's mother, who is having surgery. I found the pattern for this lacy square and after doing the first 4 rounds TWICE, I couldnt get it to look right. Then it occured to me that the instructions seemed to complicate everything....the beginnings and endings of rounds only confused me and I thought to myself, "I can do this an easier way." So I did...and THEN the square came out just fine. And who can tell the difference....I sure couldnt. I did do the last round differently, since I didnt want a scalloped edge. Find the pattern HERE

Here are some more squares I made.....

Victorian Bath Door Caddy

I had this half finished for a couple weeks and decided to finish it last night. It has lots of room for soaps and combs and brushes....its a great help. Clears off all the stuff you might have lying on the sink, too, like the odd make up or a perfume bottle. I hope to, eventually find an antique clothes hanger to replace the plastic one so it really has that antique feel.
This is made entirely with cotton yarn so its easily washable. The pattern can be found in the Lily "Sugar and Cream" booklet, "Victorian Charm"

Moonglow Ripple Afghan

I have had a lot of interest in this particular baby afghan, the pattern for which can be found in the Leisure Arts book More Beginning Crochet.
However, if you dont want to buy the pattern, HERE is a link to a similar pattern.....the only major difference is that you have to add the scallopped edge, which is pretty easy.
Yarn used was Caron Simply Soft blue and Lion Pound of Love white.

First post

Hi. I have created this blog, as so many others have, to document my favorite hobby....Crocheting. I have been crocheting for over 40 years and have found it to be the most enjoyable craft of the many I have participated in in my life. I have made blankets, clothes, home accessories......and no matter how many things I have made, I am always learning new stitches, new techniques and am ever fascinated with the fact that SO much can be done with just a little hook and some yarn or thread. For those who share the same passion that I do, this blog is dedicated to all of us. Although I am keeping this blog mainly as a record of my work and thoughts, I am happy to share it and would be pleased to receive comments from anyone who is interested.

I will try to post something every day but since I DO have a life outside the computer, I may not be able to do that. But I will be here regularly. In the coming weeks, I will start to post photos of some of my past projects.
